Autumn, please, come in, sit down!
Make yourself at home.
Summer stayed too long this year;
It’s time for him to roam.
We’ve begged him, pleading, “Please go south!”
(His welcome’s over-worn.)
And now that you are here, at last,
I’m feeling less forlorn.
Indeed, the change you’ve brought along
Enlivens me with chill;
The vibrant colors you inspire
Give ev’ry eye a thrill.
So come in, Autumn; sit and stay!
We pray that you’ll be bold
And prep us for Old Man’s arrival
Who ushers in the cold.
